Whew!

So, Dayna did great on her presentation. The only criticism the teacher gave was about the wording in the title.

Science Fairs

I am having more anxiety about my daughter's science fair project presentation than she is. I don't know why but I'm guessing it's because her teacher is critical and I don't want Dayna criticized in front of the class. Dayna says she can handle it because this teacher criticizes everyone everyday. Sigh. One kid admitted he stole his project from an existing invention and called it his own and another girl admitted she was out of town for spring break visiting grandparents and her mom did her whole project. I say that if the teacher really wanted 5th graders to complete projects without their parents' help she wouldn't have it mandatory to use double sided tape and have everything typed. Anxiously awaiting news of how her presentation went...

Homework

Wow, I can't believe we survived another science fair project. Really. My mom says that if it wasn't for pinewood derby and science fair projects, she would have had more children. I totally agree. Spring Break was great, back to school tomorrow.

Sharing

So, as you can see, my daughter and I share this blog. You'd think we'd post more often since there are two of us. Now that I'm six weeks postpartum, I'm trying to reclaim my former life and reinvent it at the same time. I have chosen too many categories.

Things I need to do on a daily basis:
Housework- 2 hours
Manage older children logistics- 3 hours
Church work/ scripture study- 1 hour
Real work- 1 hour
Tend to temporal needs of infant- 18 hours

Things I want to do on a daily basis:
Scrapbooking- 1 hour
Read- 1 hour
Exercise- 1 hour
Watch TV- 2 hours
Play/ talk to the baby- 4 hours
Organize house- 2 hours
Talk on the phone- 2 hours
Computer- 1 hour
Hang out with family- 3 hours
Sleep/ Nap: 10 hours

Total Hours Needed per day: 52
Hours I have: 24

Hmmmm... unsolvable dilemma in my opinion.

Two weeks out

So, Iris is two weeks old and I can't believe the roller coaster ride this has been. I'm so happy that she's here and we are having a great time with her. Rachel is visiting and my house is sparkling clean, organized, and the frig is well stocked with healthy food. Mom has come every day to clean and do laundry and buy little pick-me-ups for Day and Cas- aren't mom's the best?! My sisters and sisters-in-law call to check on me and my mother-in-law calls, prays, and ordered us pizza :) All of this attention takes away some of the pregnancy woes I experienced. And, to top it off, I haven't had to think (much) about work or primary! I also continue to be entertained by Laura's blog- thanks for that. My days are now filled with feedings, cat naps, diaper changes, and picture taking. I'm trying to enjoy every minute.

Too many too fast

I wondered if I would get into blogging once I wasn't working so much and I guess today answered my question. Although it could be like my journal keeping where I play catch up a lot instead of daily writing.
But... this is a good way to record events like the stressful one tonight. John turns 36 next week and recently bought a motorcycle. 'Nuff said. He's mostly been riding it around the neighborhood until he's used to it but tonight he decided to ride it to the church for weekly basketball. I made him PROMISE to call me the minute he arrived so I would know he was safe. 30 minutes after he left and no phone call. I called him and he didn't answer. What is a 9 1/2 month pregnant wife supposed to do at this point? I called my dad, who was also at the church to find out if John was there. And he was. already playing. without a care in the world :) I tried his cell again and he answers that he forgot. Man, did I let him have it. while staying kind and loving, of course.
